QUAKERTOWN EXHIBITION MEET (12/18/99)

Jimmy went 3 for 4 at the Quakertown Exhibition Meet on Saturday. He pinned the Quakertown 72 pounder in the first period, won 13-6 in his second match and pinned his third opponient in the third period.

He lost a tough fourth match 9-7 in overtime against the PAL 72 pounder. Jimmy left his legs exposed throughout the match and it was inevitable that the takedown would be his downfall.

He wrestled tough all day but continued to be a "headhunter" rather than go for the leg takedowns. He also need to remember to work on his toes not his knees.

PLEASANT VALLEY BRUINS TOURNAMENT (11/14/99)

Jimmy placed 3rd at our home tournament.  He was seeded 5th and beat the 4th seed 4-2 in the first round.  He drew the top seed in the second round and lost 11-1 then put away the 3rd seed in the consolation round by pin (0:32) to pick up the 3rd Place Trophy.

PALMERTON TOURNAMENT (11/6/99)

Jimmy started off his 3rd season by picking up the 1st Place Bantam 70lbs trophy at the Palmerton Open Tournament.  I say "picked up" because unfortunately, he didn't have to wrestle for it.  He did everything right.  He signed up, paid his fee and made weight.  Unfortunately, no one else in his division and weightclass did!  Tournament officials paged me after the seeding charts were posted and told me he could bump up to the next weight class but that was heavyweight and the boys were 115lbs to 125lbs!  Jimmy only weighed in at 68lbs so I told them "No way!".  They wouldn't let him go down to 65lbs.  The next age group (10 & under) was filled with 12 wrestlers and they wouldn't bump him up to the older division (12 & under) because the wrestlers would be 7 years older then he!   So they didn't even set him up for an exhibition match.  Cheap win but he did do everything he had to.
